Graduation season marks the true ending of the academic year, and as the 2023-24 year draws to a close, we would like to extend our warmest congratulations to our graduating Crowbirds. A special round of applause to Lindsay DeQuick, Alec Horner, Bernard Cassie, Valentina Vinokurova, and Mariana Centanin Bertho.
Lindsay DeQuick, North Carolina State University
Lindsay DeQuick has successfully fulfilled the requirements from North Carolina State University to graduate with a Bachelor’s of Arts in English with a concentration in professional writing and rhetoric, and a minor in science communication.
Lindsay is an undergraduate research assistant from NC State. She joined the Crow team in the fall of 2023 and has written blog posts and worked on several projects within the organization, like the CDW research study and grant writing team.
Alec Horner, North Carolina State University
Alec Horner has successfully completed their Bachelor’s of Arts degree from North Carolina State University in English with a concentration in professional writing and rhetoric.
Alec is an undergraduate research assistant from NC State who joined Crow in the fall of 2023. While at Crow, they authored blog posts and worked on the Crow granting writing team.
Bernard Cassie, University of Arizona
Bernard Cassie has earned his Master’s of Arts in Teaching English as a Second Language from the University of Arizona.
This academic year, Bernard completed his capstone project, “Pedagogical Corpora in Unfamiliar Territory: A Research Proposal on Incorporating in a Varieties of English Class in Ghana.”
Mariana Centanin-Bertho, University of Arizona
Mariana Centanin-Bertho has earned her PhD in Second Language Acquisition and Teaching from the University of Arizona. Mariana will defend her dissertation, “Oral Development in L3 Portuguese by English-Spanish Bilinguals,” later this summer.
Valentina Vinokurova, University of Arizona
Valentina Vinokurova has earned her PhD in Second Language Acquisition and Teaching from the University of Arizona. Valentina has defended her dissertation, which is entitled “Service-provider Virtual Exchange: Practices, Literacies, and Identities.”
